Electric powertrains for light aircraft and helicopter tugs

In Lyon, Rage Mechanics designs electric powertrains for general aviation aircraft tugs, helicopter movers, and ground support equipment for flying clubs and aircraft maintenance facilities.

The hangar challenge

Moving an aircraft out of the hangar by hand requires multiple people, and the slightest deviation can damage a wing or an empennage.

Combustion-powered tugs emit fumes in closed hangars, while commercial electric models place a heavy strain on a flying club's budget.

Maneuvering must be done at walking pace, down to the centimeter, starting under load on surfaces that are sometimes sloping.

What Rage delivers to flying clubs and workshops

A high-torque motor at very low speeds, a controller tuned for progressive acceleration and smooth braking, and a BMS monitoring the battery between operations.

The aircraft weight and ground slope determine the required torque.

For a ground tractor or a helicopter tug, we design a dedicated controller featuring the safety systems and controls required when working around aircraft.

Precision and robustness, proven in the field

We have not yet published our aeronautical projects.

Delivering torque down to the centimeter is what our controls achieve for Alpenia, while enduring harsh operating conditions is proven by the Zosh scooters used by the French Army.
