Titanium steering column: what is it for, and which scooters does it fit?
On a powerful electric scooter, the steering column is the component that connects your hands to the front wheel. It absorbs all braking forces, all impacts, and all stresses applied to the handlebars. On most commercially available machines, it is also foldable, and that's where the problems often begin. This guide explains what a titanium steering column offers, how to choose the right one, and for which models we manufacture them.
The essentials
- The original steering columns on powerful electric scooters tend to develop play, become loose, and flex.
- Our columns combine a Grade 9 titanium tube with an aluminum 7075 headset and stem adapter.
- They are mounted in place of the original column, using a few screws, and feature a 31.8mm mountain bike handlebar stem and handlebars.
- The length is chosen according to the desired handlebar height; we also offer custom-made options.
Why do the original columns weaken?
A folding column represents a compromise: it needs to be foldable for transportation, yet rigid while riding. On a machine weighing over 40 kg and exceeding 100 km/h, this compromise doesn't hold up for long. Three recurring issues arise:
- from the initial setup to the bending, which becomes more pronounced with mileage and is noticeable during braking;
- a loosening issue, which requires regular tightening;
- flexion, which causes the steering to feel vague when cornering at high speed.
The typical symptoms include: a clicking sound during braking, the handlebars moving relative to the deck, and a feeling of instability at high speeds. Handlebar movement at high speeds is a serious safety hazard.
What titanium offers:
Grade 9 titanium (Ti-3Al-2.5V) combines high rigidity with a low weight. When paired with a clamping ring and a 7075 aluminum stem adapter, both machined from solid stock, it provides firm and precise steering that remains stable over time. We use these steering columns in competition; they have been fine-tuned on our own machines.
How to choose?
The model
Each column is designed for a specific folding system and geometry. It is only compatible with the models for which it was intended.
The length
The length determines the handlebar height. For example, on the Nami Burn-E, the short 38 cm version provides a lower riding position, which is preferred by our track riders and smaller riders, while the 50 cm version restores a height closer to the original. For a different height, we manufacture custom stems: simply let us know the desired height between the deck and the handlebar.
The handlebar stem and handlebars
The steering column features a mountain bike-style stem with a diameter of 31.8 mm and a handlebar. A short stem and a carbon fiber handlebar complement the setup nicely. On several models, a 3D-printed bracket is included to neatly mount the display.
Here are the models for which we manufacture a steering column
- Dualtron : Thunder 1 and Compact, Thunder EVO, Thunder 2 and Victor, Thunder 3, Sonic Alien, Victor Limited 2025 and 2026, New Storm and Storm LTD, Achilleus 2025.
- Teverun: Fighter Mini, Fighter 7260R, Fighter 11 and 11+, Fighter Supreme Plus and Supreme Ultra.
- Nami Burn-E, available in various lengths.
- Others: Rovoron S7, Odyssr Drift Dual, Bronco Xtreme.

Assembly
The steering column assembly replaces the original steering column and is secured with a few screws. Before installation, check the condition of the bearings and steering column cups. Tighten the screws to the specified torque, and then re-check the tightness after the first few kilometers. We can also install the assembly in our workshop, by appointment.
For a brand new machine, our Titanium Editions deliver the scooter with the steering column, handlebar stem, and handlebars already assembled, torqued, and inspected.
And how do you transport the scooter?
With a titanium column, there's no more rapid bending like on the original column: it's precisely this mechanism that would become loose over time. To transport the machine, loosen the five screws on the ring, remove the tube, and place the column on the deck. When reassembling, tighten the screws to the specified torque.
Workshop tip
A steering linkage will not permanently correct itself by simply tightening it; it will eventually come loose again, and each time it does, it causes further wear on the linkage components. Address the underlying cause at the first sign of the problem.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can the scooter still be modified?
It's not a one-step process like with the original column. To transport it, loosen the five screws on the ring, remove the tube, and place the column on the deck. When reassembling, tighten the screws to the specified torque.
Do you need to purchase a separate handlebar stem?
Yes: The column comes with its handlebar adapter, which is used to mount a 31.8mm diameter mountain bike handlebar, and then a handlebar itself.
Is the assembly process complicated?
No: This column replaces the original one and is secured with a few screws. It is recommended to tighten the screws to the correct torque, with a re-check after the first few kilometers.
My scooter is not listed. What should I do?
Please contact the workshop, specifying the model and year of your vehicle: we also manufacture custom-made columns.
Why titanium instead of aluminum?
Grade 9 titanium offers high rigidity with a low weight, and it doesn't develop any play over time. We use these columns when competing.
